In 2011 Hearts and Hands officially came to be. However, for many of the founding members, their journey with Haiti had began years before. When the door opened for these individuals to meet and work together, Hearts and Hands was born. The starting hope was to provide consistent support for FEP, a private run children's home in Les Cayes, Haiti. The goal was to ensure the children had food in their bellies and clothes on their backs. God continued to grow that dream into something much more.
By 2012, every child in the orphanage had a monthly sponsor. Teams began traveling to Haiti to visit FEP, and more people became devoted to seeing change in Haiti. FEP was able to expand their current building which allowed for a designated classroom and school office space. In 2019, after years of prayer and fundraising, FEP children's home was able to relocate to a new property, allowing them to become a light for Jesus in a new community. Their previous home is continuing to be utilized in the community for education, serving as a Kindergarten.
Along with the amazing partnership Hearts and Hands has with FEP, we have also been able to make contact in the community itself. Currently Hearts and Hands works with about a dozen families in the community in varying degrees including food and school sponsorships, Christmas sponsorship, and financial literacy.
While Hearts and Hands began through a love for Haiti, our hope is to expand into other parts of the world as well. Hearts and Hands is continually looking for new opportunities to become involved in what God is doing around the world.
Sue is currently serving as our Board Chair, and is one of the newer members of our team. She also serves on her church board, and offers valuable insight through the lens of her passion for Haiti.
Kayla has been on the team since 2014, but her involvement with Hearts and Hands began long before that. She helps process our tax documents each year and compliance, and also serves as Vice Board Chair and Secretary. She also leads the annual Christmas Committee, and much more.
Kait serves as our Communication Coordinator and helps put out quartlerly newsletters and updates, as well as keeping in regular contact with and loving on the people we serve in Haiti. She is carrying on the legacy of our founders, Jackie and Aaron Frisch as their daughter-in-law.
Matt is also one of the newer members of our board, but formerly spent a year in Haiti as a missionary and teacher at Providence Academy. He offers very experiential insight to our ministry, and helps with our fundraising needs, currently serving as Fundraising Coordinator.

At Hearts and Hands, the organization's strong suit is that they are 100% volunteers. They have such big hearts for this ministry that they give their time, and a lot of it! As board members, they are not only filling visional roles to steer this ship, they are also serving operationally to row it! Sometimes they may have longer than usual response times, or be slow to put out updates, because they are also all juggling full time jobs and little ones running around at home. They believe however, that donating time to this nonprofit, is the strongest asset of all! Without paid employees, Hearts and Hands does not have large marketing or advertising expenses, and little to no overhead or administrative costs. All your money given goes directly toward its intended need!
We are looking for people to help train, mentor, and disciple as the children grow
Are you gifted in this capacity? We often need help and insight in processing donations, budgeting, thanking sponsors, and more!
The medical and dental needs are often overwhelming in Haiti. Are you a trained medical professional looking to use your gifts to help others?
